Hobbies and Interests
I’m a singing teacher, so I love singing. I sing regularly as a soloist of operatic, recital and oratorio repertoire so take an active interest in the voice, how it works, how it feels and how it changes. I have over 10 years’ experience of teaching all genres to all levels.
I believe that a free, natural voice is the most beautiful way of singing and my aim when teaching is to help you achieve this, whatever genre you sing. My singing students at home are any age over 11 (right up to 90!) and I teach all abilities.
Singing can often feel vulnerable and some people are afraid of coming to singing lessons because of this. I have done some counselling training in order to be able to help those students who find the process of finding their voice particularly difficult. I also help singers with performance anxiety.
If you’ve been thinking about having lessons because you love singing and want to improve, want to gain confidence either in singing or even in other parts of your life, or just to see if you’re a better singer than you think you are, get in touch!
When I can get out of the house, I love Cornish pilot gig rowing. I both row and cox, despite being rather tall! I love being out on the water in nature together, rowing in rhythm.
I also love walking long distances in the countryside and I occasionally do Argentine tango, although table legs can get in the way, somehow!
